Founding Run
Every journey has a starting line, and this is ours.
The Founding Run celebrates the launch of UK Virtual Races and invites you to become part of our very first running community.
Choose your distance — 5K or 10K — and complete it wherever suits you. Your local park, favourite running route, treadmill or somewhere completely new. You decide where and when your journey begins, within the event's participation period.
Whether you're taking your first steps into running, returning after a break or already an experienced runner, the Founding Run is about taking part, achieving something personal and enjoying the experience.
Once you've completed your distance, submit your activity evidence through your UKVR account. Following verification, your result and digital achievement will become part of your personal collection.
Founding Run also features specially designed 5K and 10K finisher medals for runners choosing the physical medal entry option.
Come for the race. Return for the journey.

Participation rules
Founding Run Participation Rules
1. Choose either the Founding Run 5K or 10K when entering.
2. Complete your selected distance by running or walking, at a location of your choice, including outdoors or on a treadmill.
3. Complete your activity within the participation period stated for the event.
4. Your submitted activity must be your own genuine effort. Entries are personal and cannot be transferred to another participant.
5. Record your activity using a suitable GPS watch, fitness app, treadmill display or another method that provides reasonable evidence of distance and completion.
6. Submit your result and supporting evidence through your UK Virtual Races account.
7. All submissions are subject to verification by UK Virtual Races before results, certificates and achievements are confirmed.
8. Participants are responsible for choosing a safe and appropriate route, following local rules and exercising within their own abilities.
The Founding Run is about personal achievement and participation, not competing against other runners. There is no requirement to achieve a particular finishing time.
Activity submission requirements
How to Submit Your Founding Run Result
Once you've completed your chosen 5K or 10K:
1. Sign in to your UK Virtual Races account.
2. Open your Founding Run entry.
3. Enter your completed distance, activity date and finishing time.
4. Upload a screenshot or photograph showing your activity details.
Suitable evidence includes a GPS watch or fitness app summary, a treadmill display or another clear record of your completed activity.
Where possible, your evidence should show the distance, activity date and elapsed time.
Please ensure your evidence is readable and relates to your own activity. You should not submit another person's result.
After submission, UK Virtual Races will review your evidence. Once approved, your result will be confirmed and your digital achievement will be added to your personal collection. Any physical medal fulfilment will follow the conditions of your selected entry package.
We recognise that virtual racing relies partly on trust. By submitting your result, you confirm that the activity is genuinely your own.
