These terms apply whenever you create an account, enter a challenge, or otherwise use UK Virtual Races ("UKVR", "we", "us"), operated by [TRADING NAME / COMPANY NAME]. By creating an account or entering a challenge, you're agreeing to them.

1. What UKVR is

UKVR is a virtual challenge platform. You complete a set distance or cumulative target, anywhere you like, within a stated completion window, and submit evidence of your run. Once approved, you receive a themed medal and certificate. UKVR is a separate site, brand, and business from ukroadraces.co.uk (UKRR) - it is not a UKRR feature, though the two are linked in places.

2. Entering a challenge

• You need a free UKVR account to enter any challenge.
• Each challenge states its own format, distance/target, completion window, and entry fee.
• Entry fees are payable at the point of entry via our payment provider (Stripe).
• Entry fees are non-refundable once paid, except where required by law, or where we cancel a challenge outright (see "If we need to cancel" below).

3. Completing a challenge

• You can run your distance anywhere - your own route, your own pace, your own time - as long as it falls within the challenge's stated completion window.
• You'll need to submit evidence of your completion (for example, a screenshot from a fitness app, GPS watch, or similar) through your account.
• Submissions are reviewed manually. We may ask for clarification or additional evidence if something's unclear, and we reserve the right to decline a submission that doesn't reasonably demonstrate the distance was completed.
• Cumulative/monthly challenges (e.g. "10x5K in 3 months") require each individual run to be logged separately within the challenge window.

4. No official rankings

UKVR challenges are completion-based, not competitive. Because routes, terrain, and conditions can't be standardised or independently verified the way they can on a marshalled course, we do not publish official finishing positions or rankings. Where a leaderboard is shown, it's for fun only, based on self-reported times/distances, and carries no official status.

5. Medals and certificates

Once your submission is approved, we'll ask for your postal address (if we don't already have it) and dispatch your medal and certificate. Please allow [X weeks] for delivery. Medal designs are unique to each challenge tier and may differ from concept artwork shown on the site, which is illustrative rather than a guarantee of exact appearance (production medals are die-struck/enamelled and can't reproduce digital effects like glow or gradients).

6. Your own responsibility and risk

UKVR challenges are unsupervised - there are no marshals, no closed roads, and no on-course support, because you're choosing your own route and running unsupervised at a time of your choosing. This means:

• You're responsible for your own safety, route choice, and fitness to take part.
• You're responsible for your own property (including any devices or equipment used) during your run.
• We strongly recommend you hold your own personal accident/injury insurance if you don't already have appropriate cover, and that you don't take part in any physical activity that a medical professional has advised against.
• To the fullest extent permitted by law, UKVR is not liable for injury, loss, theft, or any other harm arising from your participation, except where that harm is caused by our negligence and the law doesn't allow us to exclude liability for it (for example, we can never exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence).

7. If we need to cancel or change a challenge

We'll always try to give reasonable notice if a challenge is cancelled, postponed, or materially changed. If we cancel a challenge outright before you've completed it, you'll be offered a full refund of your entry fee or the option to transfer to another challenge.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit evidence that misrepresents a distance you haven't actually run
• Use another person's account or identity to enter a challenge
• Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the site or its underlying systems

We reserve the right to decline entries, void submissions, or close accounts where these terms are breached.

9. Intellectual property

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time - for example, as new challenge formats or features are introduced. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
